I spoke to someone last week who made an interesting comment. They said our web site doesn’t get us any work or make us any money. This alarmed me, so I came back with another question, ‘why have you got a web site then’? The reply was even more intriguing. ‘We had a web site built because we didn’t want to be left behind’. I couldn’t help but think ‘you already have been’. Read the rest of this entry »

I have been a freelance photographer working for Lancashire Life Magazine for 8 years now. Simon Smithies is an Actor and TV Presenter. Simon has done a lot of work with online selling TV channels and knows how to demonstrate a product to its best advantage. In this video Simon takes us through the virtues of an ipod dock. The benefit of having such video’s on your web site is that Simon or indeed any other presenter can be there on your site, selling your product 24 hours a day.

Working with a presenter like Simon, we can set up a temporary studio on your premises and record several such sales sessions in a day allowing you to have the power of such online selling techniques right there on your web site under your control. For the right products, these sales techniques really work.

Seasons in Shadow: Incubation Gallery 8th Aug- 26th Sep 2008

Tony knox the curator of the Incubation space based at the Media Factory Preston present the new show Season in Shadow features Yuanning Che and Barry Jackson.

Chinese artist Yuanning Che gradated in a ma in fine art in 2007 this new series of work inspired by Sakura, or as it is know in the west Cherry Blossom is an omen of good fortune and is also an emblem of love, affection and represents spring. Cherry blossoms are an enduring metaphor for the fleeting nature of life, and as such are frequently depicted in art.
Che stated ” I always feel that I don’t take photographs with my cameras: I take them with my hearts and my minds. They are a reflection of my selves, what I am and what I think.”

Barry Jackson a digital photo artist has shown internationally and wrote books on Photoshop his new series “URBAN ANGELS” explores the long held religious belief that angels invisibly walk among us in order to provide guidance and protection. Jackson constructs the images to appear as if they where candid snapshots taken with some kind of spectral camera catching the angels unawares as they went about their daily business.
Although the ethereal beauty of the angels creates a vivid contrast against the gritty backdrop of stark urban reality they also manage to appear inconspicuously at home and serene in their far from heavenly surroundings.

Barry Jackson 2008

Here is a picture that Barry Jackson took on our trip up to Lancaster the other day. We were intrigued as to why the passengers in this particular vehicle needed bikes. Are they of for a daytrip some where or does the driver not know they are there, attached by someone else at the traffic lights as getaway vehicles? If you have any suggestions please let us know. No prizes, just the glory of winning. Neil Hickson

Virtual tour movies offer some really useful features in helping people to visualise a location. A few years ago when my wife and I were looking to book a holiday cottage up on the North East coast, we were overwhelmed by the numbers of places on offer. Some had wonderful sounding locations but few images to offer any real information. The holiday cottage brochure we were trawling through mentioned its companion web site and the fact that some of the properties had ‘virtual tours’. Read the rest of this entry »
